I think it is ornate and hideously ugly. If I walked into that room I would immediately feel uncomfortable and assume the owner of the home was a rich person with bad taste.

There are plenty of apartments for rich widows in Manhattan that look like that. All that is missing is the Pomeranian.

Not very family-friendly, though.

Over the top and pretentious for a family house unless you live in Georgetown and are loaded. OK if you're a rich single/couple.

I'm clearly the mother of boys because I look at that and simultaneously think "It's beautiful" and "how many nano seconds would all that stay white in my house?"

I can't imagine that look unless I had a separate room that was off limits to my kids entirely, except perhaps one 5 minute pose for the Chrismas card photo.

If you could pull it off though, I think it's a beautiful look.
