I forgot to add, then followed then the Reggio Emilia philosophy.

NP here i know what you mean. Cost aside, I just don't see why so many people prefer nannies around here. I guess it is a Southern thing? Or maybe I am just a daycare person. It seems safer, more palatable to me.

But how do you know that a nanny offers superior care when you're not around? At least in a daycare, there are tons of other caretakers around to help out and working in a group provides some relief that a nanny wouldn't have. Also, a nanny does not necessarily provide constant attention --- I have observe many nannies on their phones ignoring their charges.

You can't get full-time (e.g.) 10-hour a day care for that in home with a legal caretaker. It's cheaper than a nanny if you have only one child. Not such a good deal if you have two or more children. A nanny is a better option.
