Here are some schools that offer a BSN, that might be affordable for you. These are all over the map, geographically, setting, and size, but some you might look into:

Baldwin Wallace
Beloit
Clemson
James Madison
Loyola of New Orleans
Ohio State
SUNY Binghamton
Alabama-Tuscaloosa
University of Pittsburgh
The College of New Jersey

In Maryland.

Open to anywhere.

Live on campus.

Can afford full pay at UMD but that's About the max, so a private school with generous merit aid is necessary

Need to know what state you're in OP. If VA -- then lots of good state choices. If not, MD doesn't have many state choices. DC has the TAG program.

About her possible major, some things to keep in mind:

Speech—generally requires master’s degree. Undergrad major less important but she will want to have studied linguistics, psychology, anatomy, general science.

PA—requires graduate degree. Undergrad major need not be science but must include upper-level work in science and behavioral science/psychology, so similar to pre-med coursework.

So, if she wants to do speech or PA (or med school), she can go anywhere for undergrad, including to a small liberal arts college. But if she thinks she might want a bachelor’s in nursing, she obviously needs to go to a school that offers a BSN. Although, she could also get a general BA or BS degree and then get her master’s in nursing.

If I were advising your DD, I would also try to get her to define some parameters unrelated to the course of study:

Are there financial limitations, and if so, what sort? Will the family qualify for (i.e., require) a lot of financial aid? If so, your first important cut should be to eliminate schools that aren’t generous with financial aid. Will the family not qualify for much/any financial aid but still need/want a lower-priced education? If so, she should focus on in-state schools and schools that are generous with merit aid **for students with similar stats to your DD’s.** Keep in mind that if merit aid is desirable/necessary, your DD will have a better chance of getting it if she focuses her search AWAY from the highly popular northeast/mid-Atlantic region. This website has GREAT information about how to sort out schools based on financial and merit aid:

Other important questions: Does your DD want to stay in the area? mid-Atlantic region? On the east coast? Or does she want to go far away for school? Does she want a large, medium, or small school? Urban, suburban, or rural? Will she want to live on-campus? This site has a great search engine that allows you to set these kinds of parameters.

Some students think they want big urban school but when they visit small college towns, they like that better, and vice versa. Sometimes it helps just to visit some local campuses to get a feel for what "big" and "small" and "urban" vs "rural" really means.

Hope something here is helpful. Good luck!

DD is a junior. She is starting the search process, but doesn't know where to focus in on in.

Here is some info-
3.92 GPA, ranked 16/371 in class
2 APs so far, in AP Bio, Euro and English Lang this year
26 ACT, took as sophomore. Could have done better since math score was awful due to only having geometry at that point. Thinking score school be 29-32 range by the end of this year (will have precalc and alg2 at that point)
Plays varsity tennis, some Decent volunteering (hospital and museum plus school key club), leadership position in asipiring health care club, andlink crew leader for extracurriculars
Looking at nursing, physician assistant, speech/lang pathology, or POSSIBLY premed (not sold on that yet though)

She's outgoing, but not a partier. Would like a school where students arent on either end of the extreme- she wants academics, but not only academics. She wants fun people, but not a hardcore "party" school.

Thoughts?
