I can't imagine sleeping through a wakeup unless we sound proofed our room, so I'm curious how this works. Crying=letdown of milk for me, so there so far has been no point in dh trying to give a bottle.
It is essentially a sitter at night. The nurse would bring me the baby (she was with him in on another floor) and I would BF him. As soon as I was done, I would hand him back to her. I didn't have to change his diaper, soothe him, etc. I could just roll over and go right back to sleep.
She became invaluable when DS developed reflux and colic. There was no soothing him or getting him back to sleep. He was awake 21 hours a day. She could somehow get him to sleep and, more importantly, DH and I could get some sleep so we could function for the hours she wasn't there.
