I interview lawyers on a regular basis and lots of women don't wear pantyhose. I really don't care one way or the other. I do, however, try to avoid hiring dorks. Attorneys typically work long hours together and therefore I consider whether the person seems like someone I'd want to spend time working and traveling with. It doesn't trump qualifications, of course, but there are tons of applicants for every position so I haven't had a problem finding qualified people who aren't dorks. I would not think someone was a dork for wearing pantyhose though.

I can always count on at least one or two rude posters in response to any question. For all the serious responses, thank you. I have no problem wearing pantyhose, btw. I asked only because one of my girlfriends (who is also a lawyer at a firm) said she would think anybody wearing pantyhose in this day and age was a dork and probably count it against them. I thought she was wrong and was planning on erring on the side of caution, but just thought I'd ask here to make sure.

Yes, wear them. You don't know what their office dress code is. ALWAYS err on the side of caution.

Most headhunters/recruiters will tell you to wear pantyhose. It's the most professional, and until you work at the firm, you won't know what their style is.

I have a job interview on Tuesday for an attorney position at a law firm. I'm debating whether to wear pantyhose with my skirt suit. I know there are people who will say that pantyhose are old-fashioned and unnecessary, but I also know that some small part of the professional population considers them to be required for formal occasions like job interviews and court appearances. So it seems to me that the safest course is to wear them, but is there any reason not to? I wouldn't if I were interviewing for a job with some hip or edgy employer, but this is a conservative law firm. And yes, I realize I'm probably overthinking this.
