Try the Gregor series, if your son likes Harry Potter. It's great stuff.

HP, LOTR, Unfortunate Events, Jessica Day George....
Best idea that we've had take them to the library.

Great list. I agree with the Pp who mentioned the difference in plot pacing between the "older" children's classics and the more current ones like HP and Percy Jackson - it is a shame bc I think a lot of great children's books are not being read as much.

I wish it was broken down in smaller age groups. My 13 year old isn't interested in reading books from the section that 9 year olds read from.
