Wow, so many "mean girls" on here. The OP said she doesn't know anything about cooking fish! Give her a break. I'm surprised Whole Foods gave such wrong information.

Fish and houseguests stink after 3 days.

OP here. First, I post in the wrong forum by mistake. Sorry for that.

Second, as I said I don't have any experience cooking fish and relied in his info. I already threw it away and can't return. But lesson learned. Tomorrow I will buy another one to cook in the evening.

Isn't there a Ben Franklin saying about how "houseguests, like fish, start to smell after 3 days"? Definitely a 3 day rule on fish and that's assuming it was fresh to start with.

Um, yeah, don't buy fish till the day you are ready to cook it.

Take it back, Whole Foods is good about taking things even without a receipt.

Maybe the fish was pretty and well dressed.

Then return it! They'll take it back--tell them the fishmonger lied to you.

Bought a red snapper (whole) at WF on Tuesday and asked the guy if it would be good by today. He said yes - well, once I took it out of the wrapper it was clearly spoiled or beginning to. Glazed eyes and when I poked the flesh it didn't bounced back.

Upset with myself...argh!!! I never cook fish, I don't know how to. But I ate a lot of it during our vacation and decided to try. It didn't work out very well I guess....
