If you can afford a single family home in those districts you should be able to pay $1,000 a year.

10+ years ago when my twins attended Eaton the HSA dues were around $150 and Mann was just under a $1000. I would have paid $1000 at Eaton. The children were very happy there and then went to private school.

we are at Murch. after seeing the numbers above ($2000 per child??), we must be the black sheep of the JKLM schools. last year the suggested PTA contribution per child was $350 (people give what they can, more, less or even nothing), and I thought it was steep. the biggest fundaser is the spring auction. people offer/buy things in all price ranges. I have seen people put down $2000 for a dinner by a chef or $10 for a shirt. my relatives own an apartment in a very sought after location and we offered it at the auction, getting $1500 that went to the school.

They have a suggested amount but, other than the suggestion, my experience has been that they encourage full participation at the level people can afford. I am completely unaware of what any other family has given other than what I read on this board.

We are at Janney and we give the suggested amount of $650 per child (I think this is an increase).

What we can afford. Sometimes it is $15. Last year it was $200. One year we gave nothing.

The suggested contribution to the Mann PTA is $1,500 to $2,000 per child.

This amount does not cover events and other expenses throughout the year. Those are paid for separately.

They fund additonal staff, technology (like smartboards), and I believe offset costs associated with enrichment activities. There is more. They are pretty open about their budget. Are you at one of these schools now? You should go to the first PTA meeting.

When our kids were there, about 5 years ago, we used to give 1,000 per kid for a total of 2,000. Still beats paying private school tuition, which we do now. But I did not notice any pressure to give, and I didn't have any idea who gave and who didn't.

Lafayette approximately $1500 throughout the year. Up front a couple hundred o the Bear Fund and HSA dues and then more at events throughout the year. Totally worth it.

I know kids get a lot of "extras" at these schools because parents give money to the school. Is it a lump sum up front or many contributions through fundraisers all year. Could people please approximate how much they give and which school their kids are at? I have heard rumors of $2,000 a year and was wondering if that was the norm. Thanks
