I have noticed that hair bows/ribbons are a sort of odd "status" at preppy Catholic schools. Very Lilly Pulitzer-ish.

I agree that they look absolutely ridiculous (and most definitely question the mother's taste! Of course, the mother is usually wearing some equally ridiculous get-up herself - Lily Pultizer on a 35-year old - sorry, but get some style?!). However, it's not something to get worked up about - to each his own!

I'm from the south and we love them! My daughter likes picking them out and asks to wear one each day. Not sure how a kids bow can get you so worked up... Would be like me bitching about another kid's bangs.

We have lots of huge bow-wearing girls at DS's preschool. It's a Southern thing, I understand. Looks silly to me but means something to their moms.

Nice of you, as an adult, to laugh at children because of what their mothers and fathers choose to decorate them with - even if it is inwardly. Stop judging people - different strokes for different folks...... and then let your own freak flag fly. After that, go find something important to focus on.

We do. Did you go to a daycare center or an elementary school there? Huge white bows? I've never seen anything like that in the U.S.
