This is only your first month temping. It took me 3 months to really see patterns. Are you reading the temps yourself or using an app like fertility friend? I highly suggest you use fertility friend and make sure your waking time is consistent. Also look at any alcohol consumption. Even 1 glass of wine can spike my temp .1 or .2 the next day.

OP, FWIW I had no "typical" PCOS symptoms - 28 day clockwork periods, very thin, no acne, etc. Yet after trying for years to conceive to no avail, my doc finally tested me and my testosterone was through roof. I was diagnosed with PCOS. I am finally pregnant with no intervention and it turns out I was ovulating the whole time - but it was happening just 2 days after getting off my period. Temp charting never reflected this "early" ovulation. So..you never know. I would still ask my OB before wasting a bunch ot time.

It's not the egg that starts your cycle each month. It's the change in hormones that starts the shedding of the lining. I didn't learn this until the start of my IF journey.

It is very possible. I have a regular cycle every 28 days but only show signs of ovulation once or twice a year and have never had bloodwork indicate that I ovulated.

I stopped taking the pill in April and have gained 8 lbs . I also stopped taking lexapro at the same time.

PCOS symptoms include irregular periods, facial hair (or other unwanted hair), acne, insulin resistance - to name a few

I have actually gained 10 pounds since coming off the pill, I wonder if that is a sign of something.

Thanks all. Yes, I have been getting my period regularly (28 days on the dot). So maybe this month was just a fluke. I don't think I have any other PCOS symptoms, although I am not sure exactly what they are. I was planning on making an appt with my obgyn if I was unsuccessful after 6 months, so maybe I will just wait until then.

Pp. I didn't think it was possible either but I have read that you can have what you think is a period without actually ovulating. When I went off the pill for first time I didn't get my period for months. The my dr gave me progesterone for 10 days. Then I got a period and a few months later was pregnant

It's pretty normal to have a random annovulatory cycle every once in a while, especially if you just came off BCP. I would wait another cycle, but if you don't O again, definitely call and get the ball rolling. Do you have any symptoms of PCOS?

Also, just wanted to reiterate that the 6 and 12 month waiting periods don't apply (except maybe where your insurance is concerned) if you have a known fertility issue. And, even then, they are a bit sketchy. My doctor believes that a healthy, under 35-yo could should really get pregnant within 6 months of active TTC (charting with good timing, etc.). After that, it's time to explore reasons why it isn't happening.

I would wait another month, because folks with no fertility issues sometimes have an anovulatory cycle. If you have the same thing again, I would make an appointment. The whole "wait 6 months" or "wait 12 months" thing doesn't apply if you don't ovulate.

They're unlikely to do anything at this point but it can't hurt to let them know. Usually they wait until you've been ttc for 1 yr if you're under 35 and 6 months if you're over 35 before treatment.

I just finished up my first month temping and realized that I never ovulated. This is my fourth month TTC, but my first month temping. Should I call my doctor at this point or give it another month and see if I ovulate next month?
