Does she have a partner? I'd recommend Let's Dish. The meals are frozen but prepared in the store. All they have do do is cook from frozen or defrost and cook. Pretty easy (but not totally w/o effort of course).

A good friend is having major surgery and I would like to send her a few prepared meals. Has anyone used or received any of the services advertising to new moms? I would like to spend under $50, but open to any ideas. (She lives in Virginia, and I don't have a car to drop things off.)
