Right. They've made it that way because if you can't beat em, join em. Did you ever go to back to school night when you were a kid? I didn't. My mother did, solo. We stayed home with my dad.

My child attends St. Jerome's. The entire family attended back to school night. It was a warm and welcoming introduction.

We have one every year. We go and sit in the kids' desk, talk about what they're doing, expectations etc.

So annoying to spend money on a sitter for the night -- as you are told it's adults only -- and find that other people don't care to follow the rules and brought their kids along. It's supposed to be an adult conversation but it's always interrupted by whining toddlers and kid talk.

If I can't get a sitter, make some damn friends who can watch your kid for a few hours. Jeez. My pet peeve.

I asked the same question to our PTA president and she said that it is mostly for the parents and that she and her husband get a sitter so they can attend. But there are people who bring their kids so if you can't find someone you can bring them along.
I think that either DH or I will go and the other one will stay at home with the kids.

At our school, most of the kids attend.

There are usually a few kids coming with their parents. I think if it is choice between attending or not, I would bring the kids. Some schools offer childcare during it..

At my school kids attend. It starts right at the very end of aftercare. If I picked up my kid, took her home, then turned around and went back to the school, I'd have missed the entire thing. She stays.
