How do you wash it? Just toss in washer??

No, I use an anti-bacterial spray and wipe it clean a few times a week. The mat is made from rubbery material. http://www.amazon.com/GelPro-Flora-Comfort-20-Inch-36-Inch/dp/B004P1I7MS

I think you can find them at Costco sometimes for a lot cheaper.

I have an indoor/outdoor rug in the kitchen from Ballard Designs. Vacuum it regularly and hose it off in the yard when necessary. It's amazing! Cheap and has held up well for over 5 years now.

I have a galley kitchen with original wood flooring. It's a very high traffic area and the wood gets gross very quickly. Need a sturdy, easy to clean rug to run the whole distance of the kitchen. Advice???
