The kids of the admin (and many teachers) at our school attend the school. However, I would understand if they didn't. I could see how it could be awkward for the kids to attend the same school where their parent worked and vice versa.

It's my understanding that even if a person teaches or works there, they have to fill out a financial aid form in order to get a reduction.

I could be wrong, but I thought that's how it works. I don't think there's an automatic discount or anything. And from I gather about private school salaries, I bet teachers qualify for aid fairly quickly at Sidwell.

No. You sound paranoid.

Please bear in mind that private school faculty are often very, very poorly compensated, and many could not possibly afford to send their own children to private schools absent complete fee remission.

My sister wouldn't send her children to the school where she worked. Based upon years of working in the field, she said it wasn't good for the kids.

I know one administrator at a private school whose kids don't go there, because they go to the private school where her husband works.

I think it's sad when a school doesn't help or support the staffs family. It also adds to diversity. Could you not get aid?

I suppose it depends on the reasons. For example, I know at least two admin types at private schools whose kids attend other private schools. In one case, the admin's kids were fully engaged at school #1 before admin got a job at school #2, and it would make little sense for the kids to switch schools just to match the parent's job. In the other case, the admin's kid is clearly not a good match for the private school where the admin works, and is a good match for the other school. I also could imagine situations where an admin (particularly a highly placed one) wants her child to have a "normal" school experience, unburdened by the parent's role at the school. It all depends on the details, so I don't think you can make broad-brush judgments.
