My family doesn't put a huge deal on birthdays. We weren't brought up thinking the world revolves around us on that one day, and we don't get upset when someone misses a phone call. It's a nice way to go through life -- not getting so mad over minor things.

+1. Honestly I am really terrible with birthdays, even within my immediate family. A lot of the time, the Facebook notifications save me with my friends.

Birthdays are tough. Some people are great about cards and calls. Other people just aren't that organized. If forgetting birthdays is her only flaw, I would move on.

She never called to wish either of my DCs happy birthday (both have June birthdays) and she didn't bother to call my DH on his birthday yesterday. My DH always calls to wish her kids happy birthday, calls her on her birthday, and called her the other day to make sure everyone was okay when he saw on facebook that they were in a fender bender.

I know its not my place to say anything to her, and I won't, but just wanted to rant.
