A) freshly picked corn is superior to anything you buy
B) it's really cool to watch your plants grow from seed
C) it's educational
D) corn isn't cheap but seeds are!
E) you can make Halloween/Thanksgiving decorations from the stalks and ears
F) if you grow popcorn, it's even more fun than sweet corn.

we live on an acre. 15 corn plants would go in the ground.

the kids have been growing it in the back porch, but if we plant outside it will grow better.

Practical question: How much corn and how big is your front yard? Honestly, it's not the easiest vegetable to grow and you have to plant a lot of it to really make it worth your while? If you want organic ---then join a CSA.

My former boss used to complain about her neighbors who did this. It really pissed her off. I personally think there are worse things a neighbor can do than grow produce in the front yard. That said, it might look odd if everyone else has lovely non edible landscaping in the front and then your yard looks like it's harvest time.

Does it matter?

If you sell some surplus at your next yard sale it will be conveniently located. Nothing tacky about that. But, what will your corn return policy be?

Only as long as you don't peel back the ears and then put then back. If you pick an ear, it's yours.

If you were growing corn in your front yard in our neighborhood, the HOA would send you a notice and ask you to stop. Thankfully.

A little tacky. But I would rather have you, a corn growing neighbor than the neighbor who has 10 cars parked on the street. Go for it!

I don't have a problem with it, but then again I think a lawn is a waste of space and water. I'm all for the edible landscaping.

Of course some people will think it's tacky. Some people here think getting a baby's ears pierced is tacky. I think growing it in the front yard is fine, especially if it's part of other edible landscaping.

Sorry, but yes, I would think that was tacky.
