Agree with PP to see if you can telework. The federal government is very (or so they say) pro telecommuting.

The previous suggestion to ask your employer for remote working privileges, is a good one.

I have a friend in southern California who is in your position. They left DC ten years ago for DH's job, and she asked her well-known, highly-regarded, government contractor if she could telecommute and continue to work for them. She has been successfully working from southern California for a decade now with several promotions, flexible schedule, increased expertise and responsibility, and now a west-coast centric area of responsibility. I really admire her and am a bit jealous of the life and career she has built out there. This can be a great opportunity for you and your husband.

OP, I live in SF. Look on Indeed.com, look on Craigslist (we use it much heavier here than in other cities, as it was born here), and reach out to headhunters who place people for your line of work.

Every company requires human capital and strategic communications. Have you looked at job posting in the Bay Area?

OP here. I have been doing human capital and strategic communications for 12 years. But all for IC and DOD clients.

He will be based in Santa Clara.

Make sure you can REALLY definitely live off his salary too. Things are crazy expensive in that area. What area of SV is his job in? Commutes are tough there too so you want to be careful about where you live and where you might like to work too.

What does your job entail as a Govt. Contractor? What is your job description?

Completely at a loss. DH got a job offer from Silicon Valley; he's a great data scientist. The salary is off the wall, we can definitely live off his $. But I've never been a SAHM and need to find a job. A problem is - I am federal government contractor and that's all I've done in the past 12 years. I'm not an engineer nor a data scientist, I don't know how to code. Are there any job prospects for someone like me?
