I get free gas, so maybe I'll just pack up the car with my girlfriends and we can all go to 404 and buy right from the farm.

That's the spirit, OP!

Out here in Loudoun County tomatoes are anywhere from $2.50-$3.99/lb. Corn is about 50 cents an ear. Greens are $3 a head at least. Peaches about $2.49/lb. Blueberries are $5 a pint! I never get those at the farmers market. I do like to get garden cukes there (smaller and not waxy like grocery store cukes) and I believe they're about $3/lb.

The farm stand I go to I has $3 lb heirlooms right now due to a good crop and tr regular tomatoes are always $3 lb. Very tasty. $5 pony of cherry tomatoes, blueberries, plums I think.

They tend to be equal in price to whole foods.

The prices aren't cheap at farmers' markets but the quality is light years above any grocery store, plus it's nice to support local farmers, and I value the environmental aspects of eating locally as well.

DuPont last week - salad greens are $6/ half lb, $11/lb
Peaches and nectarines are $2.49/lb
Large Leeks - $3 for a bunch of 5
Corn - $.75 an ear
Tomatoes - $4-5/lb
Blue berries $5 a pint

Basically the same or a little more than whole foods. However the blue berries and corn are SO much better than WF or Giant. Tomatoes are comparable to the heirlooms at WF, but much more variety and the farmers market sellers can help you find the right one for your recipe.

Tomatoes and squash were $3 per pound in Vienna last week. Watermelon were $4 each I think. Cheaper than whole foods.

$5 for a pint box of convential grape tomatos and the quality was poor compared to Giant.

I go the the Farmers Markets in Alexandria and generally leave with nothing as a lot of the stuff doesn't look that good and is pricey. Everything I have bought in the past couple months has gone bad very quickly.

DC area farmers markets are the same or more as whole foods I found. I save much more on produce at Costco or Aldi.

Yeah, you wont' save money at farmer's markets around here. When we go to the one in Bethesda, my wallet usually ends up $20-40 lighter and it's a lot less than what we get on a trip to Giant. The quality can be a lot better though.

Wow, so it basically costs the same or more than the grocery store.

Peaches have been 2.49 or 2.99/lb at Alexandria's markets.

I bought some really wonderful and cheap produce on Route 404 at a farm stand (coming from OC), and I am thinking of checking out some local farmers markets (I'm in NoVA).

How much does produce cost at your farmer's market? Please give examples, for instance of what tomatoes cost. Or melons, blueberries, etc. Tomatoes were $0.20 each at the farm on 404.
