We live in Arlington Heights and our daughter is at Patrick Henry. We have been so impressed and really happy with our experience at the school.

My kids go to Barcroft - a lovely neighborhood and a solid school.

We are in Alcova Heights and send our kids to Campbell. We love it.

The neighborhood school, Barcroft, is also great. We didn't choose it only because we spend most of our summer up in New England and the kids would miss most of the 1st month of school because they start up around August 5.

We also love our neighbors and neighborhood.

Campbell is county wide but getting very hard to get into even if you are in S Arl. because people live it so much.

All the elementary schools in S Arl are great. You can't go wrong.

We are at Claremont and love it. We live in the Oakridge neighborhood and our friends with children there are very happy as well. Both schools have active, engaged, diverse communities. If you stay on the immersion track it feeds into Gunston MS which is also the neighborhood MS for Oakridge.

There are a few people who seem to have a full time job committed to bashing South Arlington schools on these boards. Please ignore them.

N arl schools are competitive. I know families move to the south because their kids cannot be number 1. To me, being number 1 in elementary is ridiculous. I much prefer they get challenged.

Hi, OP, and welcome to South Arlington! I've lived here for several years, and I love it! My DS is 3, so no direct experience with the schools just yet, but we plan to send him to Claremont Immersion. My nephew went there and he (and his parents) loved it and spoke very highly of it. Most of the kids in my neighborhood go there, and I have heard only positive things.

I think there are many people who want to create a big North/South Arlington divide and loudly proclaim the superiority of the N Arlington schools. But, I feel very comfortable sending my son to S Arlington schools - I know teachers at several schools, North and South, and I've been really impressed with what I've seen. I'm sure others may disagree with me, and that's fine - but I do want to toss in my two cents, which is that the whole "You're sending your kids to S Arlington schools?!? THE HORROR!" is a bit overblown.

Not PP but we have kids at Drew and live in the neighborhood. Several nice new houses have gone up in the area for pretty reasonable prices. School is great.

We are considering housing South of Route 50 in Arlington since we feel priced out of market north of there. In reevaluating our dealbreakers (e.g., very good school pyramids) we have decided to loosen some of our must-haves.

So we are now looking for neighborhoods with respect to the nearby elementary schools. I will post in Real Estate as well but what are the names of the good, better, and best elementary schools in the southern part of Arlington? We have a 2 year old so we have lost the need to consider our 15 year plan of where to live and focus rather on the 7-10 year plan.
