Sure they do. Downsize, downsize, downsize. You don't need to live in a 3,000 sq ft place, hire help for cleaning and yardwork, wear the best clothes, have an iPhone5, drive an SUV with only one or two kids, use coupons and shop the specials. Cook more, go out to eat once a month or less.

It can easily be done, even in this area. But people here are too set on keeping up their extravagant lifestyles.

Priorities.

I think you should stop calling yourself their friend. Or you could share your opinion with them, and then they can stop calling you their friend.

Kids love aftercare.

They go to school all day and can't even interact with their friend and then they are rushed off to carpool/bus lines and never even get to play with their friend.

The aftercare kids have a great time, it is like a built in playdate, they get help with their homework and their home life is less stressful when they get home.

Most the SAH moms ended up sending their kids to aftercare when their kids complained that their friends got to have so much fun.

My kids would get so mad if I came before 5pm. I never really needed them to be there that long but they got so mad if they had to stop playing with all their friends.

My kids have been doing full day daycare and then full day school, with aftercare for many years. They LOVE aftercare and get upset when they don't get to go.

Maybe it depends on the quality of the program, but it beats coming home and watching TV.

This has been covered before. Some folks have to work full time and don't really have a choice. In that case, our kids have been in daycare and preschool full-day too so it's not a big adjustment for them, like it would be for kids going from partial day preschool to full-day kindergarten.

My kid is in preschool from 8:00-5:15. Can't be helped. If I didn't work, she would be homeless, unfed, clothed in rags and not college-bound, and I imagine her life is better this way.

Others think you are a troll that is trying to start yet another war between SAHP and WOHP. People choose the best options for their families based on their own circumstances.

You should probably take it up with your "friends." (and please report back)

Money = food, housing, utilities and other necessities. Since you are such a great person, maybe you can volunteer to watch the kids in their absence.

I think that it would break my heart not to be able to provide for my child, and having safe, reliable childcare where my child can enjoy playing with friends allows me to do that.
