Class sizes in preK-2 usually range from 16-19. YY has to have an even number of classes throughout the grades b/c of 50/50 English/mandarin from K and up.

My kid's class in preK was 19:2 and 17:3 for K (inclusive classroom).

I've heard class sizes use to be even smaller in the upper grades like 14, 12, etc.

Because you can't imagine a class with one or two more kid than the class at Yu Ying?

My kid had 19 kids in her class, one teacher, and one assistant. The horror!

Hearst typically has 18-20 students in the kindergarten classes. Each class has one teach and one aide.

I think the cap should be 20 at that young of an age.

At least one of Tyler's traditional K classes had 28 students present the day I helped out in the classroom. I couldn't believe they had so many kids. They had a lead teacher (who seemed terrific and very experienced) and an aide. The aide sat behind a table the whole time and had the misbehaving children sent over to her from time to time.

K classes at Murch had 16-17 two years ago. Last year around 21/22. Expect this year's K classes to be around the same as last year. One teacher and one aide in each K classroom.

There's a limit of 20 for a pre-K class - no limits on classes above that. Generally in the twenties

Last year PreK at Murch was 20 per class. Don't know about this year.

Whats the typical size of a DCPS K class? If there is no typical size, how do the K classes at Oyster and Murch compare with some EOP schools, like Bancroft or Marie Reed?

Thanks!
