Sounds to me like you are doing contract award work, and Probably using your legal skills in that capacity. Think about what legal skills you are using, even if that is not the primary focus of your job, and include those (as well as your other duties).

OP Here. I got a random call from a recruiter based on my (outdated) CareerBuilder resume. There are also a lot of veteran placement agencies that place veterans. Most of the people I work with are veterans and that's how they get their jobs. The work isn't practicing law, that's why I asked if I should leave it off my resume as I want to get back into the private sector. I work with a va program that provides set-aside contracts to veteran owned small businesses. I could make it sound legal but I haven't done any real legal research or writing.

I'm a laid off attorney - can you explain what it means to have been contracting with the fed govt? How did you get the work?
Would love to hear, OP!

When you say federal government contracting, are you working in procurement or doing legal work as a contractor? If the first, leave it on for sure, will make you more attractive for procurement law jobs!

Why would you leave it off? Is there something wrong with providing services to the federal gov't? If so, my whole career is gone.

Ex-BigLaw Associate.
For the past 2 years I've been contracting with the federal government. Is it better to leave this off my resume? Does federal government contracting look better than doc review?
And if I do leave it off, how do I justify the gap in employment?
