14:10 here. I just found a recipe on google, I think by searching "crock pot old bay boiled peanuts". I can't remember where I'd heard it, but I heard crock pot cooking worked much better than boiling.
Anyway, I thoroughly rinsed the raw in-shell peanuts. (I bought a 35 lb bag from a international market called Jungle Jim's in Cincinnati, while visiting family.) I mixed 1 cup of salt and 1/2 cup of old bay seasoning in a few cups of warm water, filled the crockpot full of peanuts, poured my seasoned water over the peanuts, then added water until it hit the top of the crockpot (while pushing the peanuts down). With the crockpot on high, I weighted my lid upside down for the first 3-4 hours, until the peanuts soaked up enough water and were no longer floating. Then I turned the lid on correctly and continued cooking for another 5-6 hours on high. At that point they were soft enough to eat. My hubby said they were as good as any roadside peanuts he's had. I wasn't sure what to do with leftovers, so I kept them in the crockpot on "warm" for the next day or so, while family continued eating them. They softened a tiny bit more, but never got mushy.
About a month later, we did a 2nd batch at home with cajun seasoning. These were a little too spicy for my taste. I also kept these on "warm" for the next 2 days, while he ate from them, but ended up throwing out about 1/2 of them, because I couldn't imagine keeping the crockpot on any longer.
