No, I haven't heard of it. Where is it located? Cabin John? I hadn't been to that plaza in a while (I don't get out much with a 6 month old!), and noticed today that there seems to be a bunch of new places there. Including an oyster place, I think? Will look up Bennie's.

DO NOT go to Bennies! It's disgusting! My DH ate there and got a burger one time and he said it was horrendous! He also came home and smelled like grease...pure grease and he said it was a dive and the only crowded part was the bar where 50+ yos were getting drunk and trying to pick up each other.

Oh yeah half the wait staff smoke cigarettes and stunk!

No, that would be considered advertising. Please see http://www.dcurbanmom.com/advertising for information about advertising on DCUM.

I'm sorry it came off that way. It absolutely is not an advertisement, and I have no connection to the restaurant whatsoever. I honestly just thought it might be useful info for someone, because if I weren't already familiar with the plaza I would want to know given the dearth of decent Jewish style delis in the area. I don't really care one way or another about them myself, but DH is always on the lookout. He grew up near the plaza and worked at one of the old delis in that space when he was in HS.

ANYWAY, it wasn't an advertisement, and I'm sorry it came off as such. I suppose I'll know for the future that only questions, not opinions, are appropriate original posts.

Sorry, I didn't realize it was inappropriate to post about a DC area restaurant on a DC forum in the section titled "Food, Cooking and Restaurants".

There aren't many Jewish or Jewish-style delis in the area, at least not ones that are very good. That spot in Cabin John plaza has been a few different delis over the years, some reasonably good, others not. This place opened pretty recently, I think. After eating there today, I thought it might be useful for others to know that it might be worth a visit if in the area.

DH and I went for lunch today. DH pronounced the corned beef excellent, and said the knish pastry was very good but the potato filling a little bland. Pickles were good too, but he wanted more. . I had a simple turkey sandwich. Turkey was piled high and very good, but as someone who isn't a fan of mustard there weren't any other low fat condiment options. I realize that's not what a deli is for, but given the likely clientele it might behoove them to add a low fat salad dressing option to their offerings!

Table service is only in the back, and it was a bit confusing and crowded trying to figure out where to stand to wait to be seated. Servers were friendly and knowledgeable, but not exceptionally attentive - we waited a long time for drink refills. But, we were seated at a 4-top when it was just DH, myself and our 6 month old baby (without us asking), and I REALLY appreciated that they were willing to give up that table so we could have a little extra space.

Overheard another customer asking about breakfast, and the man who seemed like the manager indicated they'll be starting it next weekend I think).

All in all, we'll go back!
