It's really frustrating that I look 5 months pregnant. I want so bad to be pregnant... not look like it.

To add to this discussion, I was a sub- elite runner and my ob told me to cut down - e.g., no sprinting, no 20 mile runs, cutting down distance
I'm not sure if it helped me but I had a good response to IVF. No climid however
I still run but I try not to go over 50 miles a week (a cut in mileage for me) and I run very leisurely

I didn't gain weight from cloned, but I did feel like a dark cloud descended over me. I was really seriously depressed.

PS: ladies who were training for marathons? Fellow athlete here so no judgment, but that kind of intense training can sometimes be a cause of unexplained infertility. Perhaps the weight gain was actually your body telling you something? http://link.springer.com/article/10.1007/s00404-012-2436-x

I gained about 6 lbs while on clomid for 2 months. I'm taking 2 months off before I start IUI. I'm working out 1.5 hours a day with a trainer and eating healthy and I'm still gaining weight when I should be losing. I've gained another 5-7 lbs this month working out everyday, and I'm not on clomid. I'm wondering if clomid is still in my system after a month causing this confusing weight gain. Has anyone else had an experience like this? So frustrating and confusing.

I can totally relate. I gained 16 pounds in five months. I was also training for the Boston Marathon so my activity level was high I was watching what I ate. It's been incredibly frustrating. I just stopped Clomid this past month and hope the weight falls off. Has anyone had a positive experience with losing the weight after stopping?

Thanks everyone. I didn't realize the meds would have this side effect. I suppose the positive side to this is that this is my last Clomid cycle. If it doesn't work we move to all injectables.

It's good to know I'm not alone in this weight gain.

PP adding to say that I gained about 7 lasting pounds total on a very small frame (so it was a lot for me) in about 6 months of non-stop treatments. I chalk some of it up to the meds, especially progesterone (which added another 3-4 every cycle that came off at the beginning of the next cycle). I chalk some of it up to exercising less and stress. In the end, I ended up with a healthy baby, lost all of the weight, including those extra 7, very easily and have a stomach only a little flabbier than before (it wasn't a six-pack to start with, ). Good luck!

I was on clomid for 4 months and I went from 140 lbs to 148 lbs. I never lost weight even after stopping clomid. When I switched to IVF, I gained a few more lbs. More than the lbs, I started seeing a lot of flab on my tummy and thighs. Because stims bloat the ovaries, I have also reduced exercising. So there is no way that I am gonna lose it anytime soon!

I was on Clomid for six months and gained twenty pounds, going from 120 to 140. While it doesn't seem to be a frequent side effect, it definitely is real. I realized that I had no control of it when I was in the middle of marathon training and still gained 4 pounds in a month. As soon as I switched to using only Gonal-F for stimming I stopped gaining weight. Clomid was an awful drug for me!

I gained about 5 lbs. during each of my IUI cycles, but lost them (without really trying) on our off-cycles. (We had 1-2 cycles between each IUI cycle because of ovarian cysts.) I wonder if I had done one cycle after another if the weight would have just accumulated.

Progesterone caused me to gain weight. It might be from that.

Yes to the progesterone. I'm starting it tonight for my IUI, so I haven't used it in almost 3 weeks since my last cycle.

Are you supplementing with progesterone as well? For me, that caused a bit of belly bloat and weight gain.

I may have gotten a bit bloated from cycle to cycle, but it didn't result in a real gain. Hopefully it all pays off for you.

Has anyone experienced weight gain while on Clomid?
I'm on 50 mg Clomid plus gonal-f and ovidrel trigger.

I've gained 8 pounds in the past 2 months. I'm 5'6" and now 142 lbs. I've put all 8 lbs in my stomach. None of my pants fit and I'm really discouraged.

Is this a normal side effect of the meds?
