Yeh unless you are logged in, there is no way they can find out you're looking at their profile. The only way they would know is if you were registered and logged in while being on their profile.

I don't know what someone with a paid account can see. But someone with a free account -- which is most people, I think -- would not see your IP address or a list of the other profiles you looked at, even if you were looking while logged in. If you were logged in, they would see that you had looked. If you were not, I believe they would see "anonymous user" or something similar.

All that said, your nervousness makes you sound weird. Why would you care that a colleague or someone you planned to do business with knew you had viewed their profile? If I were a professional dog walker, say, I would expect (and welcome) potential clients viewing my profile. Sometimes I see that former colleagues have looked at my profile and I think that's interesting (as in, "Maybe they are looking for a new job") but I'm not bothered.

If you are ashamed of them knowing you look, then don't look. It's not like there is juicy stuff in a LinkedIn profile, anyway.

no, I don't even have a linked in profile so I wouldn't be logged in.

But say I am a firefighter so all the profiles I randomly look at are mostly firefighters say from my town of Clark. I am stalking (okay googling and going to see the public profile) of a dog walker in Kent. Would they be able to see that I am anonymously looking or figure me out b/c of me also looking at mostly firefighters so they assume I am a firefighter from Clark. then bingo they would know it is me or guess when they see Clark or firefighter as a connection? I was also thinking they could see my location anonymously, like the town or vicinity of my i.p. address.

If you were logged in and your privacy settings are open then yes they will see that you looked at their profile and also when

Hi, I am hoping not to look like a linkedin stalker. I googled someone I know and linkedin and went to the profile they had but I wasn't logged in or anything. I admit I did this more than a few times b/c I was trying to get more info on this person I'd be having significant contact with.

I routinely do this with other people I work with etc. Would that person know I looked them up or how many times or be able to see others I've looked at and make the connection b/c we all have a connection? I know sometimes it shows to the right others that viewed this person etc. so connections could be figured out. In my case could they see that I potentially OR someone (again not logged in) was trying to view their profile?
