Love him to death but he really is stupid.....He absolutely loves our daughter though. She is 13 mos now and ever since she was a small baby he has loved her. She can lay on him and touch his ears and his teeth and he just takes it.
In the mornings they both come in our bed and they can lay right next to each other.
He makes up for his lack of brains in his love.

I wish more people were like him.

I don't understand why people get goldens anyway- the shedding, the ACL tears, the hip dysplasia, the goofiness...I know that when you get a good one they're great--but the bad ones seem either bonkers or dumb as rocks.

You need a Labrador Retreiver first. The retrieved Labradorian will properly train the Golden Retreiver.

Yeah, you have to train them to do this. Start with very short distances and have some treats in your pockets--did I say start off slowly--because no one ever listens when I say that they just want to haul the ball 50 yards on the first day and expect the dog to retrieve it. 10 or 15 minute training every day for 2 or 3 weeks hold do it. You really have to praise them excessively with treats after they bring it to you --start off with distances of like 2 feet, I'm not kidding.
