I always try one grape and one cherry before deciding to purchase. Too many sour grapes and watery cherries these days. Fruit now costs about the same price as meat but the produce seems to be far less consistent in quality, taste and texture than protein products. I figure if the store doesn't want me to sample they can tell me and I'll take my business elsewhere.

Re: the re--bagging issue -- I always ask a store clerk to do it for me. Do you really want all of those people touching the fruit? Of course, I wash it but it shouldn't be handled by so many people.
Anonymous wrote:Rebag all the time. Pre bagging is the grocery store's way of trying to sell you more than you need. I'm pretty sure that when I was a kid, the grapes and cherries were displayed loose and you just scooped them up yourself into the bag.
