Love this apple pie: http://allrecipes.com/Recipe/Glazed-Apple-Cream-Pie/Detail.aspx?event8=1&prop24=SR_Thumb&e11=apple%20pie%20cream&e8=Quick%20Search&event10=1&e7=Home%20Page

I make it yearly for my family and they all adore it. It is best after chillled for a day or so.

Alton Brown's apple pie (google it). Complicated, a few non-traditional ingredients but a great pie.

Here are my suggestions (if you have enough time)

Go out and buy a frozen pie crust or pie dough. Try it. (Premade quiche filling... Or even just sprinkle with cinnamon suger and bags)

Let that be your benchmark. Rolled pie dough is tricky and not just a matter of following directions. Try out making your own and see if you like it better than the store bought. If not, either use the store bought or go with an alternative crust... like a shortbread crust or crumb crust.

As far as filling... do you have any fruit preferences? Do you want straightforward, classic or more adventurous. I've got tons of recipes. Filling for fruit pie is super easy.

Np...I'd like to hear more adventurous recipes please.

You can use a chilled wine bottle instead of a rolling pin -- less to pack. I'd be interested in recipes, too. I only make a non-traditional fruit pie with lots of seasonal fruit and an orange juice glaze.

We are about to leave for family beach week. My MIL's birthday is a few days after beach week is over, but I would like to do something special for her while we are there. She loves fruit pies so I would like to make her one from scratch.

Does anyone have a good recipe for a fruit or berry pie? I'll probably use one of the dough recipes from the other thread.

This will be my first time making a pie, but I am good at following instructions.

Also, what do I need to bring from home? I'll bring my sifter and a rolling pin. And a pie pan of course. Anything else?
