I worked for Deloitte as a consultant in the Public Sector. Generally, it's easier to achieve work life balance in the public sector than commercial. But you are expected to do firm activities (proposal, volunteer, BRG...etc.) I would say expect to put in 50 hrs per week ( which is not bad for a big 4).

It's a consultant job for federal projects.

Similar experience here. OP, it really matters what function you're in and what job you are performing. If you want better answers on here, what sort of job is it that you're considering?

Back when the 'big 4' were the 'big 8', a person's workload varied by which project they were on. Some worked a lot of nights and weekends, others didn't. It's probably the same way today.

I am not the person with the above quote, but given that there are thousands of people in this area who work at Big Four and Deloitte specifically, there is bound to be someone in your network who works there. Maybe not someone who you know personally, but a second-degree connection or at least someone from your college. There are lots of groups on LinkedIn for Big Four employees, alumni etc etc. Deloitte is big enough that you can be in some niche practice area that has good hours and is family friendly and not the general rat race that the Big 4 are known to be.

a slave driver of a place but as with all of these 100k plus employee professional services companies, it is highly dependent on practice area and immediate team/employees.

I know someone who just left a fed job for Dealoitte. The compensation was better in every area...and no furlough days!

Which part of the company/what line of work? Deloitte is huge. I used to work at PwC, and then when I went to do accounting in house Deloitte was our auditor and the hours they were working were crazy (at least through the mid-management level, not sure about partners). If you are doing specialty work or consulting, it could be different.

Any insight on working for this company? Is it family friendly and minority friendly? Would it be worth leaving a mediocre stable, job with great pay for?
