Must every thread about groceries include the rabid anti- trader joes posters who omit truths to further their weird
agenda?

Did Trader Joes kill your kitten or something? I can't think of a logical explanation of why you come on every. single. grocery thread and make up nasty bullshit about what's actually for sale at TJs at good prices.

(And, name on commercial grocery chain that does not sell any processed food, mkay?)

That is the first time I have heard the Wegmans rumor, but I hope it is true!

As an alternative to WF, Dawson's Market in Rockville Town Center is nice and I think their prices have gone down since they first opened.

Here's hoping that the rumor about Wegman's opening where White Flint Mall is turns out to be true!

Well, the one in Gaithersburg has outdated things on the shelves, is frequently out of things for long stretches of time, and has workers who won't give you the time of day...so, I'm not surprised the Rockville store is crappy too.

Have you tried farmer's market? The prices are comparable, and the qualities tend to be better.

I also go to Trader Joe's, not for their produce (also suck), but for their dairy products or snacks. I only go infrequently, though, because I try to eat minimally processed food.

Yeah, Trader Joe's is the absolute worst. It's basically a 7-11 for hipsters. Crappy wine and beer, over-processed junk food, and rancid produce. Tons of MSG in their house brands too.

+1. I have never understood the popularity of "TJ's" as all of the DCUMer's rave about it. Basically a bunch of frozen, processed crap. Learn to cook!

Not everyone who shops at TJs does so for their packaged food. My shopping list at TJs includes fruits, vegetables, organic meat, eggs, quinoa, brown rice, tea, and chocolate

OP here, the other thing I meant to say was maybe it was never that great to begin with. I have had a hell of a time finding grocery store I like around here. I am coming from Texas, and miss HEB/Central Market dearly.

This I agree with. I've stopped going, unless I need meat or fish. Otherwise, I can't be bothered to read all the labels, sort the organic from conventional, watch out for the outdated (or about to be) stuff, or deal with the crowds, the parking, the attitude.

We do our shopping at MOM. (Nebel St., at the corner of Randolph Rd.)

I have definitely encountered the outdated dairy problem at the Rville WF. Don't know about other stores. I expect more from them because of the prices. But honestly the parking made me stop going, not the dairy.

I like all the Whole Foods in the area, although the Bethesda one never has the pink Casabella gloves I need for washing up, and the Rockville one never has the 365 organic 2% milk my children want. As for mold in bakery products, I have occasionally seen this in every supermarket in the area and the likeliest offender always seems to be Trader Joe's. Can't speak to the quality of the meat, I must not be that picky .

Whole Foods sucks. Probably the worst grocery store in the DC area.

I hope I don't get totally flamed for this. I'm looking for opinions on the Rockville Whole Foods. I feel like they had a rough start (short dated dairy, stale bread, etc) but were doing ok for awhile. Now, I can't go there without being disappointed in something.

The prepared foods are totally inconsistent and generally suck. I almost bought some moldy bagels, noticed it last minute. Chips and bread are stale. Chicken quality low. The service also seems to be going down.

Is it just me or have others noticed this?
