This, in bold, is the case with my daughter too. My 8 yo loved the book for younger girls - there's a book for older girls too.

Sorry, the book is "it's so amazing" and the other is written by some other person not Harris....there's another book in the series called "It's Perfectly Normal."

I think you should get a gender neutral book as well so she can learn about the guy's anatomy, etc. and more general sex related topics that are important for kids to start thinking about before they learn them on the school yard.

There are a couple books called something like "It isn't the stork" and "Isn't it amazing" by Robie Harris that cover all kinds of repro stuff..... I think the one designed for older kids covers menstruation.

Hah! I loved that book but I remember so confused when Margaret was talking about belt!

OP here: No the pediatrician doesn't think it will happen this year but he wants us to be prepared. He said the first tell tale sign is usually breast budding and he saw no evidence of that.

I'm not enthusiastic about the American Girl book, but I don't object to it either.

She may be a little young, but Cycle Savvy: The Smart Teen's Guide to the Mysteries of Her Body by Toni Weschler is a great book to have on hand. I'm not familiar with the American Girl book, so no feedback there, though that sounds like it would be more age appropriate.

We just went my dd8's annual pediatrician visit and he said that puberty can start this year. He suggested that American Girl book about it. Is anyone familiar with any other books that talk about puberty or movies? Just trying to get my ducks in order and speak intelligently with her. Thanks.
