I posted on that thread (coworker almost killed two people, manager did nothing, etc) and I quit my job at the end of July of last year. So economy was still pretty bad back then. I ended up going to grad school instead of finding a new job.

No - I need the income.
I have many on the list in my work environment. It makes my life miserable. We do not live a fancy lifestyle...live in a modest condo, have 1 car (which we did recently upgrade because our old one was not safe for our new baby...it was a piece of junk!), we don't have fancy lives....but DC is a 2-income town when both incomes are middle class.

We are looking at moving out of DC, but I can't quit as much as I'd love to walk out and never return.

Would you quit now, given the current economic environment? Some of the examples were: the place was sexist and full of untalented longtimers, bad manager who hired b-level employees and all the good ones left, control freak managing director.
