Are you permanently taking on the responsibilities or just temporarily until they replace him? You should find out before you go and ask.

It's possible that I will be asked to take on some of the duties of a recently fired coworker. This person's position was a step up from my position. While I will, of course, be enthusiastic and willing to take on these new duties (in addition to my current ones), I'm wondering if it will be a good idea to:

-Negotiate a title change that encompasses my current and that employee's job duties. The goal would be to have a title "higher up" than my current one (Ex: from manager to director).
-Ask for more money. And if so, how much more money? I'm thinking realistically, we're only about $10k apart in pay scale, so what should I aim for (if anything)?
