No, not at all. Just wipe it down. It has a nice glossy surface so it is pretty impervious to staining. But it's much quieter looking than granite.

Yes. Quartz countertops are actually manmade composites. They are as durable and stain/heat/microbe resistant as granite, if not moreso because they don't require sealing.

Your typical tile and granite store has several types to close from - Silestone, Caesarstone, the mjaor brands, etc.

We just had quartz installed in our kitchen and I like it so far. We bought it at Flintstone Marble & Granite in Rockville. Despite their name they have a huge selection of different quartz brands, which is why we went there -- Silestone, Caeserstone, Cambria, LG Viatera, etc.

I have granite tops and don't do anything special to them. I use windex, pledge to shine. Going on 6 years they still look brand new.

If they had needed special care I would not have had them in my house.

I have had Silestone in several kitchens. They're great -- hard to do any damage to and involve no upkeep. I got one set from the firm doing the entire kitchen, and the other set from Home Depot. There really isn't a lot of variation in price from dealer to dealer, as they all go back to the same manufacturer.
