there is no such thing. Many ACA camps allow tipping including ours.

We always tip our kids sleep away counselors. $20-25 each. They have gone to the camp for 4 years.

When I was a camp counselor, tipping was very prevalent..

I have always tipped our camp camp counselors. We usuallly do a small gift card to amazon, b & n, Starbucks, etc, along with a thank you card written by my son.

Be sure the camp knows how happy your were with their staff as well.

Most camps will say. We've had one that explicitly encouraged it and another that forbid it. I prefer the latter.

One of our camps strictly forbids it, at two others it is quietly accepted.
Once we got a college student a B & N card bc we weren't sure. If you're not sure, you can send it after the camp season, especially if it was only one.

Good to know! How much do you tip? I will call the camp. It is this one counselor in particular that I just think deserves a little appreciation tip. He was fantastic with our son. His letters were incredibly informative. Also, He is in college here but is from New Zealand. He didnt get to go home for the summer.

DD's counselor was good but not outstanding in any way. DS's was just truly exceptional, and I say this as someone who went to sleep away camp for over 10 years as a kid/teenager.

Really? But these are highschool and college kids. If anyone could use a little tip, they could. Plus, I am talking about an outstanding counselor, not all of them. The letters our son's college aged counselor sent us were fantastic. I know he was a truly great counselor.

Does anyone ever tip their child's camp counselor? In particular I am thinking about sleep away camps. My kids went away for the first time this summer and their cabin counselors were amazing. My son's in particular wrote us great letters every week and my son adored him. I went to sleep away camp too but I doubt my parents would have ever even that to tip our counselors, they aren't big "tippers" in general. Thoughts? Experience?
