Subject: The recess light is hanging by a thread
Recessed light fixtures are often held in place by springs or spring-loaded pieces of metal. They can come loose and are easily fixed by a novice with no tools.
I doubt it's a ghost. But have you checked to see if your house is built over a former cemetery?

Well, the wires, anyway.
Why would I walk downstairs and discover one of my recess lights just hanging down? How random. And a little spooky.
