The use of the - single dash surrounded by dead space in the first two posts makes me suspicious.

This is terrible experience PP. There was a mix-up and they didn't put my child on the bus to go home, although she told them she was supposed to ride the bus. The bus never arrived at the stop, and when I called the camp, they couldn't tell me where she was. The people I spoke to also didn't seem to take the situation very seriously--they giggled on the phone and didn't seem to know what to do. It turned out fine; they any her to aftercare by accident, but I spent a good hour becoming increasingly more frantic. I was about to call the police when they figured out where she was.

Camp Sonshine is the least expensive camp in the area. The parents we know who have sent their DCs there care more about the price than what their child will be doing. We pay more for a better experience.

Yeah, what exactly was that you thought that was horrible??

OK, some details, please. If you want to help the rest of us make reasonable decisions next year about camp. Thanks!

Yes, it's Christian, but not overly preachy. We aren't Christian (we aren't really anything), and most of the religious aspect seems to be in teaching kids how to treat others, helping others, and playing Christian pop music rather than "regular" pop music.

My stepson went to Camp Sonshine for the first time this year. We've done Camp Sommerset and Glen Echo in the past. Camp Sonshine was his favorite by far.

Someone ALWAYS posts this. I'm the second PP, and I'm not the owner, director, or in any way paid by the camp. In fact, I pay a lot for 2 kids to go there. But they love it, and I have always liked what I've heard from them and what I've seen when I'm there.

I live in Bowie and a lot of kids from here go to Camp Sonshine. I've heard great things about it as well.

Funny. I heard such bad feedback about them.

I've posted before about Camp Sonshine - my kids have been going there for 4 years and they love it. It's really well-run and organized and the staff are great - I'm always shocked that every counselor seems to know my kids, because there are so many kids!!

Just wanted to post for the sake of future searches how awesome Camp Sonshine is. This is DD's first year there and she is 5. She LOVES it - far more than she ever liked her long term preschool. Besides DD loving it I cannot get over how responsive they are. Within an hour after I email - even late at night - the coordinator for the small kids program sends a reply to let me know they are on top of it. It is amazing. Not cheap - especially with busing added in - but very worth it especially if you need full day coverage and do not want to piece together a million different camps.
