12:13 here, I've considered that as well after having worked in local govt. For the position I'm interested in, the posting is still up. I'm wondering if it was already filled (internally or otherwise) and they just forgot/haven't had time to take it down. Next week will be two months that the job has been advertised, which seems long in that sector (non-profit).

OP here. Yes, I have considered it. The last time I had to search for a job (pre -SD) I'd see postings that were there one day and gone the next. I figured that they already had someone for the position. It could absolutely be the case for the position I want now. I guess time will tell. It's such a bummer.

Have you guys considered a possibility that the job has already been filled internally and they have posted the job opening to ensure legal compliance?

That happens a lot at my husband's workplace. They'd have a person doing the job part-time, but in order for that person to be hired full-time, they need to have a position officially open, advertised, resumes collected, interviews conducted.. and I feel bad to people who come to those interviews while, in reality, no one plans on hiring any of them.

I only have 3rd person connections on LinkedIn, but I guess it wouldn't hurt to pursue anyway. thanks for the idea!

Do you have any 2nd degree connections? You could have a 1st person connection link you to that person, whom you could then contact to ask for insight on the company culture, etc.

I've found a job that I think I would be great for. On Monday I sent a personalized email (and resume) to the specified email address and then sent an email (with resume and writing sample) directly to the president of the organization. The job was posted on July 2 and listed the application deadline as August 9th (with a start date of August 12- which I think is weird timing).

I don't want to be overly aggressive but I don't want to be too passive either. Unfortunately I don't have any 1st person connections to anyone in the company through linkedin.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.
