My sister had a stillborn baby last year. She is almost 40 and just delivered healthy twins.

I had ds at 41, then when he was 14m, I got pg again, but it turned out to be a blighted ovum. I let the m/c happen naturally (no d&c), and we were ttc right away. I got pg again when ds was about 22m, and had my dd when I was 44. I do think I was pretty lucky, but we did try every month, and I took a fair number of supplements and did acupuncture and such to improve our odds.

I'm barely 42 (birthday in January). No live births (yet), but got pregnant easily twice in the last 9 months, with both ending in early m/c (6-8 week mark). We are still trying. I will say that the shock and pain of losing the first seemed worse; when the second one happened, I was more emotionally and mentally prepared to hear bad news and to handle it. After the first one, we took about 3 months to emotionally heal enough to want to try again. After the second, we are rearing to go... we just need my cycle to cooperate. Good luck to all the AMAs out there...

I'm 42, have a 4-year-old child, and have had two miscarriages in the past 9 months at 10 and 6 weeks. Best guess is chromosomal issues. Just started working with an RE, as it took 2 years of trying before these two miscarriages. Figured we don't have another 2 years to wait!

And, I have 3 friends who naturally conceived and delivered healthy babies in their early 40s. They give me hope

My Mom had my sister at almost 42 shortly after a loss. She already had three kids. I think it'll work out fine for you, OP.

I had a MC (at 13 weeks, but no heartbeat found at 9 weeks) at age 40 after having my first child at 38. Am sitting here nursing child #2 (4 months old today) that I had shortly before turning 42. Best wishes for you!

OP here-my recent m/c was at 10 weeks, after seeing a heartbeat at 8 weeks. We did not have any analasys but it seems most likely that there was a chromosonal abnormality-as I have no health problems and have other kids. With my age, I guess that was a chance we took.

But it's good to hear the stories of healthy babies from us 'older' moms!

I had two MC at age 40 before conceiving my 2nd daughter. (First daughter born at age 37) The first MC was quite early; only about a week after the positive HPT. The second MC was later - no HB over two ultrasounds first at 6 weeks, and second at 7 weeks and required a D&C. The experience was emotionally draining, for sure. The second time we had the tissue analyzed to see if there was something wrong that could be identified. And there was - the fetus was triploid - 3 sets of chromosomes instead of two. That gave me some additional "it wasn't meant to be" sort of comfort. Although TTC was tough, now that we have DD2, I couldn't imagine our family with any other child. She is a truly joyous kid.

Congrats! This is encouraging. We , this week, decided to go aheaad and try again. I'm excited! I guess we did need the 3 months to heal emotionally. Dh was hesitant because of the m/c. But I pointed out that we had really wanted that baby and the m/c didn't change that...and I can't control if it happens or not. I'm so excited to start on this journey again.

There's also an Over 40 and Pregnant group on BBC. It moves slowly, but lots of those ladies are in your shoes.

If you want another, don't let the m/c stop you!

I'm 37 and 38 weeks pregnant after 3 losses. This is a bit further down the road, but babycenter also has private monthly birth boards for people who've had previous losses. they are usually something like "august 2013 rainbow babies." while the rainbow baby title is a little too cutesy for me, i've found mine to be really helpful. the women are typically older, more knowledgeable, and very supportive of the anxieties that are common when you've had a loss.

I am an AMA mom (38 yo) who is trying to conceive after a loss - my daughter died as an infant at 2+ weeks old. There is a great board on Baby Center on this topic you might want to look at: http://community.babycenter.com/groups/a692395/ttc_after_a_stillbirthneonatalinfant_loss

Although it lumps MC, stillbirth, and neonatal loss together, the vast majority of moms on that board on TTC after miscarriage. There's also a pregnancy after loss board, if you want to see additional positive success stories: http://community.babycenter.com/groups/a120165/pregnancy_after_loss

I've found them to be great resources and good support.

Hi, just looking for some encouragement I guess! I am 42, with children ranging from 20-10 years old. This year, dh and I decided to try for 'one last one'...concieved after 2 months, but lost baby at 10 weeks, in May. The m/c went as smoothly as I could hope I guess, no d/c needed, but still...we both do want another baby, but I guess we're scared about another loss. I know I don't have any more time to waste.

I'd love some encourageing BTDT stories! It's not like I know anyone IRL who thinks like I do LOL dh's brother is a new grandfather as are a couple of our friends!
