Unity Woods has "gentle" yoga, although they switch the instructors around and I haven't tried all of them. They have a couple locations that might be convenient.

Susan the owner of Opus yoga in the kentlands works well with everyone, incuding those who are older or who have injuries etc. i have only taken her classes. She has great skills and experience, is adept at suggesting modifications and has a lovely personality.

I second Simon Says Yoga in Bethesda (but not down town Bethesda), off Sangamore Rd.. Plenty of parking, plenty of older folks and beginners, not judgemental.

Also in the same shopping center as a Safeway and Starbucks, convenient for multi-tasking trips : )

Simon Says Yoga in Sangamore Rd shopping center- it is the place for the over 50 crowd. You won't find little yoga bunnies, just some frumpy Bethesda ladies like me!

Allay yoga in Kensington is low-key and friendly. Try a class with Pam or Marisa.

I've practiced yoga sporadically over the years, and recently did a 10 month vinyasa flow class that was wonderful for flexibility and strength. But I don't have access to that class any longer, and it's been eight months. Looking for a relaxed class/studio atmosphere, in Maryland burbs or NW DC.
