Subject: What is your net worth? I'm excited to reach zero!
After the house loan and the practice loan and the office condo loan and the car loans and the school loans, I'm now at -1000000. I was at -2500000 six years ago. Getting there and hope to someday soon be in your shoes op.

You have a higher net worth than the average NFL player - not a bad place to start from! Go you.
Our is $600k - keep saving - it keeps growing very quickly - every year I look back to see what it was the previous year and I am surprised it grows so fast.

+1. I'm not at the $3.1 level, but the most important step of all is going from negative to positive net worth. Congrats!

And to calculate net worth, you absolutely do factor in retirement, so good on you!

OP, you are so far ahead of us it's not funny, so congrats! Even factoring in our respectably sized retirement accounts, we're still negative and probably will be for at least another 5 years. We have a plan though and our earnings growth potential is decent, so we feel good about that.

You made me cheer up a bit doing these calculations. We're at 205k in net worth. Absolutely no cash flow, though, as we're losing on monthly rental from our house in Indiana and paying through the nose for a rental here (hence the need for cheering up). If we had a big bill come due tomorrow we'd be screwed as little of our net worth is liquid.

Congrats! Next goal/celebration is when your cc debt goes to zero and you pay it off each month. You're on your way!

I just realized I finally don't have a negative net worth! And I am happy about it. My home equity and 401K netted against my students loans (90K) and credit cards (5K) equals zero. I know many of you would laugh at this as pathetic, but it truly is an accomplishment for anyone to crawl out of a negative net worth.
