I don't think this is the gas from the actual surgery....it's gastrointestinal and maybe swelling? When does it go away?

Yes, they fill you with gas during the surgery so your stomach is like a baloon. Some of the gas can get stuck but it will eventually go away. It's really common so don't worry. I'm surprised your doctor didn't warn you. The gas can actually cause shoulder pain too.

I did have some funny pains in my torso - I assumed leftover bubbles. Gas-X helped a bit.

I had a similar feeling after laparoscopy. I walked as much as I could. Slowly of course. I passed gas and felt better. I have heard, but not sure, that they fill gas in there to bloat the organs to see them clearly. Some of it remains inside after the surgery.
I also drank freshly squeezed lemon in warm water. Passed out some gas through burping.

Just had a lap on Wednesday and my belly is so bloated. It's really uncomfortable and feels like constant gas pressure. I can barely eat without feeling almost painfully full. Anyone else experience this post lap?
