Also, I think you could do yoga or Pilates a few days later and then run after that. I would not expect to do any exercise the day before, day of, or day after. Depends on your age. I am 40 and just don't recover like I did a decade ago.

I did this at a "super slow" facility in fairfax. There is also one in gtown. You have to use a trainer. It was incredibly difficult, I have not been pushed like that since high school wrestling. The trainer really gets on you to go all out. It is efficient in that you only need to do it once per week to get results (and that is a 20 minute session). It is also so exhausting that I could barely drive home and was tanked the next day. I recommend you try it.

I'm just now learning about this, and it kind of makes sense to me. The basic concept is that you should only do weight training once a week because it takes that long for muscles to recover. That workout should be very intense and includes 5 basic exercises. This struck a chord with me because all of my exercise-related injuries have come from repetition.

But I do like to run a 5K a couple of times per week, and I like to do yoga and/or pilates once or twice per week. Can I follow this plan while adding these other workouts, or would that prevent my muscles from recovering?
