Hi. I'm almost 41, have a 3-year-old conceived naturally, and got a BFP recently from stimulated IVF. My hCG numbers look good - 3769 today, 19dp3dt. But now I'm stressed out by the possibility of miscarriage. I've read that the miscarriage rate after IVF isn't much higher than for "normal" pregnancies, but are there any statistics? I'm especially interested in numbers for women >40 as the pregnancy progresses.
When I was pregnant with my son, the OB said that once you see the heartbeat, "you're 80% there." Is that also true for IVF? I feel like even with all the positive signs (follicles stimulated; eggs retrieved, fertilized, transferred; hCG numbers; etc.), the anxiety never decreases but just turns into anxiety about something else. Should I just accept the fact that I'll be a basket case, at least about viability, until 20 weeks?
Thanks.
