why did you give them the transfer date? I highly doubt that they will know what to do with that. did you tell them 3dt vs. 5dt?

I felt the same way, 14:26, but then I rationalized it that the REs know a lot about getting you pregnant and the OBs know a lot about keeping you pregnant and delivering babies. But, yeah, it's amazing how clueless they can be about a very closely related field.

One of my OBs for my second pregnancy went through IF herself and really got it. 100%. Such a relief for that pregnancy.

Yeah, providing the LMP by subtracting 14d from my retrieval date is probably the right thing to do...but it just frustrates me how clueless everyone is about calculating IVF due dates. It's really pretty straightforward...especially since ER date is the same as conception date, which is a reasonably standard way to calculate due date. I guess it's related to the ridiculousness of calculating due dates by assuming every woman ovulates on day 14 during their regular cycle.

After ART (five cycles of IVF), I feel like I know so much about my fertility...most of which isn't all that hard to understand. I'm just astonished at how clueless regular OB practices are about pretty basic stuff about women's reproductive systems...you don't need to know much about ART to understand that whether it happend in a lab or in your body, the day sperm joins the egg is the conception date. I think my frustration is that after finding a great and knowledgable RE, I really don't feel like I can find an OB practice where I trust the doctors to really understand what they're doing.

This. I adjusted my LMP to what it would have been based on my retrieval. My OB practice asked the LMP at every single appt. and wrote it on the checkout slip. The date of transfer, 5-day/3-day, none of that mattered. I said my LMP date so much that I pretty much forgot that it wasn't actually my LMP!

14:19 again. I don't think I subtracted 14, though. I think I took the due date my RE gave me and backed into my LMP using an online calculator.

My OB and RE gave me the same due date. I told my OB I "ovulated" (did egg retrieval) on date x and when nurses ask about my LMP I say that it was date x - 14 days.

Also the issue of being a few days ahead or behind based on U/S happens to women who don't do IVF/IUI either. (My first pregnancy was not through ART.) Unless the U/S shows a significant disconnect (like a week or more), they seem to not much care and you will still get asked for your LMP constantly. That's just the standard data point they're going to ask for.

The only catch about the discrepancy might be that it affects your NT screening results. I had my screening done at a separate facility and just gave them my adjusted LMP so it was fine.

My OB and the nurses were CLUELESS about IVF timing so I just made up the appropriate LMP date for them. That said, having a later due date isn't the worst thing in the world because then you'll have a couple extra days of wiggle room at the end.

Many of my IF friends also adjusted their LMP rather than rely on the OB to miscalculate the dates.

Never got it sorted out. My RE gave one date, the OB gave a later due date by 5 days. Shockingly, the little one arrived a week "early."

NO, but I am similarly confused regarding IUI. I keep telling my obgyn my conception date, but it's like all they know how to process is a LMP date. The baby meausred a few days bigger on us, so I am afraid they will want to induce me prematurely. I have 5 more months to sort it out, so hopefully it will be ok.

So, after 5 cycles, 2 losses, and 1 surgery we are pregnant and have finally been released to a regular OB/Gyn.

Everything looks fine, but I'm rather confused by due dates. Both the nurse and the OB are getting a later (by 4 days) due date than I get based on ER date. Even though I have to keep correcting them to clarify that LMP is irrelevant with IVF (due to BCP, I can't even recall when it was)...but ER should give you the exact conception date and there should be no confusion on this point. Is there something different about the way they calculate for natural vs. ART?

I don't really mind having a later due date than what I think it should be since I don't think I would want to induce early etc, but I find it very odd that they don't get the same result as IVF if they are correctly putting the ER as the conception date into their wheel. And I don't think the issue could be that they are mistakenly using the transfer date (which my OB kept calling the implantation date which makes me think I should switch doctors), because I had a day 5 transfer which should make their estimate 5 days off I think.

Anyone able to shed light on this?
