21:33 here, thanks. We recently got into Haynes and would be torn between West and Haynes. Haynes has the edge in terms of going longer--all the way through HS should we stick in this city-- and teacher: student ratio; West has the edge in terms of distance to our house/convenience, neighborhood friends, and friendly feel (though I'm not discounting those for Haynes, just haven't experienced it yet). But congrats to you OP, I am sure you will enjoy West.

We have friends who are inbounds and sending all of their kids to West (PK-4th). They didn't even try the lotteries for anything else this year, they are so happy there.

I'm with the original poster. I'm torn between West and another school. I really liked West and the principal is great! I'm concerned about long term for my little one. But I think for PS3 you can't go wrong. Appletree doesn't offer anything more exceptional than West and plus its right around the corner. Best to you

Everyone I know who has experiece with West loved it. I think there is not a lot of talk about it on DCUM do in a small part to the size of the school.

I live walking distance to West as well and would seriously consider if I got a spot (but at #30, not likely). I went to their info night before the lottery and am on the list serve and know some folks who sent their kids there. I think its a strong school and your child will do just as well there as at Appletree--plus walking to school is a huge plus. I really liked the teachers I met (one PS, One K teacher). The ps-grade 8 model is tough, but West has a nice, small feel to it.

Our former preschool resident at the Inspired Teaching School became a PS teacher at West. She's wonderful. And their hiring her is a great sign.

I would take West. Being close to home is priceless.

No crazy. If Appletree was a longterm solution then maybe but at best it's a preschool. Stick close to home.

When we entered the lottery for PS-3 we only got into West and our other waitlist numbers were so high we figured it was our only option. We went to the West open house and were impressed enough to enroll. The nice thing for us about West is that it is walking distance to our house. There has not been a lot of talk on DCUM about West. Any thoughts on West for PS-3, any other parents on here enrolled? Am I crazy to turn down Appletree CH for West? Thanks for your insight.
