I'm a Langley pyramid parent - and we've been very happy with Cooper and Langley. It is true, however, that Colvin Run is a very divisive atmosphere for many. It's not a "sweeping, negative comment" if it's considered true by many parents and kids. Our kids all went there and one was in AAP - the others in Gen Ed. Honestly, the difference in education between the two programs is negligible, in our experience. There's really no reason why they can't merge the two together, or just make AAP the standard curriculum.

At any rate, consider me in agreement with those who don't like the segregation that goes on there (and at any center). It was MUCH better once the kids entered Cooper (they went there before it also became a center), and Langley was the best by far.

You can try and shout down people whose experiences at CRES don't match yours, but it just makes you look foolish. Everyone'e entitled to describe their kids' experiences, whether you want to hear them or not.

This is complete bullshit. Colvin Run has always been supportive of my non-AAP children, who have moved onto middle and high school fully prepared.

Another parent here. Also suspect a troll. My child is the polar opposite of AAP. Lots of educational needs. The principal has been nothing but supportive of her needs.

I am a CRES parent and am honestly shocked at some of the stuff above. Is this one poster with an axe to grind? We LOVE the principal and everyone I know feels the same. That’s why I really think this has got to be a troll. The guy has a cult following. People are completely obsessed with him. I have never met one parent that just plain liked him, everyone is very emphatic about how amazing he is. He does so much for the school and also happens to have a very laid back, friendly personality, which is probably why he is so popular.

Just from some observations going to various games and camps, I've noticed this school has a lot of programs that don't seem to be available at other schools. I've also been impressed at the writing, art, outdoor time, and service work displayed around the school.

Consider me in agreement as well. I've had three children go through Colvin Run and these are very accurate posts.

None of my three kids (one still at Colvin Run) are/were in AAP and we have not had any issues whatsoever. If a kid is going to be snotty about it, so be it (I'd rather my kids have better friends than that.)

OP, we are very happy at Colvin Run. Great principal, great PTO. While my kids were not in AAP, they were pulled out for AAP level reading, and my middle child was moved up to 7th grade math.

The school is very good, but there are definitely issues with the AAP crowd looking down their noses at the GE students. I have a student in both AAP and GE and even my own AAP child tells me that her peers say snotty things about the GE kids.
