I would have loved a spa gift card. I don't like massages but by the end of my pregnancy I could barely reach my toes and would have loved a pedicure. Gift certificate for maternity clothes would be nice too, or ask your son if she has a favorite restaurant you could get a GC to.

Don't purchase the clothes, but maybe a gift card for Motherhood or a maternity clothing store so she can try on the clothes herself.

No to the photo shoot idea! That would be completely wasted on me. Literally, I would not use the gift certificate ever so it would be money wasted.

Spa gift card is great, maybe a card she can choose to use on a massage OR pedicure.

I'd steer clear of this unless you heard her mention she wanted it. I would personally hate this gift but feel obligated to use it because it was from my MIL.

I love massages, pregnant or not, but I am skittish about them as gifts because
1) I have friends who hate the very idea of being touched by "strangers"
2) People who do love massages, often have clear preferences/an established massage therapist, so unless I know who that is, I don't want to give them a certificate to some place they won't want to go.

I would talk to your son and get the inside scoop on what your DIL would enjoy!

Housekeeping is a great idea. So is massage. And healthy meal delivery is also a great thing. All of these will help her relax and be a treat for her (whereas I think clothes are going to be bought anyway so I prefer those treats).

How thoughtful of you! I wish my MIL would be so thoughtful, but then I'd probably have to interact with her

Your son married your sister in law? Weird!

Anyway, I think a massage (if she's into that) or a gift certificate for a mani/pedi, or a gift certificate to Destination Maternity would all be great.

Yes, maternity clothese (with gift receipt-sizes can be off for mat clothese) and - or a massage would be amazing.

Maternity clothes are hard to pick out and everyone's taste differ, so I'd suggest getting her a gift card or taking her shopping. My mom bought me a gift card to Pea in the Pod and I used it to buy a few nice things for work that I might not have purchased otherwise.

I agree, maternity clothes and spa treatments are all very thoughtful and a good way to focus on her and not the baby. My mom took me on a shopping spree at 24 weeks at a maternity consignment shop and it was really great.

My mom ordered me a Destination Maternity gift card online and had it shipped to me. It's good at all of the Motherhood stores, outlets, and Pea in a Pod. It came in handy when I had to buy all new work pants! Target & Old Navy also have good maternity clothes or a gift card for a spa for a massage or mani/pedi would be nice. You are sweet!!

HOUSEKEEPERS. Or just send food. Target gift card is always fun!

My MIL took me shopping for maternity clothes about halfway through when I'd outgrown all of my "fat" pants and bigger sweaters and needed a few professional pieces to take me through to the end, including a proper coat (I was my biggest in the winter). We were saving our pennies for maternity leave so that meant a lot to me. I love her to pieces. She also came to stay for a week after I delivered. She cleaned my whole house top to bottom, and took care of me so I could take care of the baby. She was a godsend. You sound similarly kind and thoughtful. How sweet!

What a nice MIL! I think a massage would be much appreciated.

My son and SIL are expecting their first child, my first grandchild. I want to get her a gift to celebrate her pregnancy, for her, not the baby. They live out of town. Maternity clothes? Prenatal massage gift card? What do first time moms need these days?
