Ha! just a bought a watermelon from Shoppers that was way to ripe. Yuck. I've never bought fruit from there before and now I remember why.

Where do you find them? I don't mind the seeds -- I just want good watermelon! And the price doesn't matter as much because I'm only feeding me. I'll budget for great watermelon!

I agree that the seeded watermelons taste better. We can get them sometimes at the farmers' market, but they're insanely expensive nowadays.

If you can find watermelon with seeds - I usually think they taste better. But they're very hard to find. I've only gotten them at the Acme in my parent's rural town.

Costco. We eat 2 big watermelons every week from Costco.

At least I know it isn't just me! Like I said, I know I'm pretty picky about watermelons. For those who asked: I usually shop at Harris Teeter. Will look into some of the suggestions.
Thank you for the yellow/thumping tips!

I, too, check for the large yellow area on the bottom. Always works.

I get an awesome watermelon from Costco every time I buy one which is pretty much weekly.

I don't know if I'm awful at picking watermelon (very possible) or if the store where I shop has a poor selection (also possible), but I've been so disappointed by the watermelon I've bought so far. Part of it is that I'm very picky -- I don't like it to be mealy or too squishy.

Where do you buy your watermelon?
